Primarily, the Stork signifies changes and fresh starts and a new beginning.  These are usually for the better and welcome, but it is worth considering the cards around it. Negative cards around the Stork can indicate restlessness and difficult circumstances or changes.  If health is an issue, the Stork can advise convalescence or the benefit of warmer climes.

Emotions and feelings are the topics of the Heart card.  The cards it combines with will always touch us more closely and affect our emotional state.  As such, the Heart card will disclose the seeker’s heart’s desire and what will get her blood pumping.  It is the card of love, both romantic and platonic.

Eight of Hearts – The Moon (32)

Essence:  Reflection.

Our moon reflects the sun’s rays.  In the Petit Lenormand, the Moon card is the reflection of the Sun card in your life.  It offers a picture of how you appear to others, particularly in terms of professional and financial status.   If you are job-hunting, seeing the Moon nearby shows you will stand out to the interview panel and that your references are good.  Otherwise, the Moon talks about our set, visibility and the trends and fashions observed.

  • Timing: Evening. Lunar Month. Also: Roodmas.
  • Health: Self-harm. Eating Disorders. Body Dysmorphia. PTSD.
  • Description:  Often, the Moon indicates a fair complexion with silver, white or platinum blonde hair.  The person will be considered good looking – sometimes having a look of a celebrity, especially classic Hollywood.

Seven of Hearts – The Tree (05)

Essence:  Constitution.

The Tree is the card of health rather than sickness as it signifies our vitality and constitution. If negative cards – especially the Clouds, the Coffin or the Mice cards – fall in the Tree’s vicinity, health is an issue. The closer to the Significator these fall does tend to increase the severity.  If the Tree alone is near the Significator card, it needs not to be a sign of an illness. Sometimes the person is focusing on their lifestyle, especially if the Tree falls directly beneath the Significator. Otherwise, it can change their outlook (especially if the Tree is above them). The Tree is also the card of quiet times and our ancestry.

  • Timing: 5 to 12 months, Maslenitsa.
  • Health: The general state of the body, how strong it is and the overall constitution.
  • Description: Dark-skinned and often middle-aged. It can be of an ‘old family’ in the area or have an old, well-known name.

Six of Hearts – The Stars (16)

Essence:  Navigation.

If you are feeling lost or worried about affairs, the Stars card is a positive omen.  It is the Dame’s Nowl:  Polaris, the Northern Star.   It offers us direction and a clear picture of matters.  For this reason, the cards around it help us map our course and assures us we’re working under our lucky star.  Next to a person, they have a sharp intellect and can be a scientist or hold some form of distinction.

  • Timing: Night-time. 2 – 3 weeks. Also: Lady Day.
  • Health: The skin and sleep disorders but will also indicate the progression of illnesses (metastasis, et cetera).
  • Description: Physically someone with flawless skin, delicate complexion or with bad cards, psoriasis, eczema, a large birthmark, &c.  From ‘up north.’

THE SUIT OF DIAMONDS ♦ (CARREAU/SCHELLEN)

The suit of diamonds has a mercurial flavour and signifies not just finances but the precarious nature of life.  It is the suit of Summer.

Ace of Diamonds – The Sun (31)

Essence:  Illumination.

The Sun card energies matters and can dispel difficult situations as it brings both the energy and grit to triumph over difficulties and find success.  In fact, it is the success card par excellence.  Often the card beneath the Sun is propitious.  In love, the Sun is a good omen: it adds warmth and sincerity.

  • Timing: 31 days. 1 year or at your birthday (solar return).
  • Health: The central and peripheral nervous systems, the body’s overall energy and vitality.
  • Description:  Energetic, dark or olive-skinned, with a great physique. Can be from somewhere ‘south’ of the querent or the southern hemisphere.

King of Diamonds – The Fishes (34)

Essence:  Resources.

Whether you are an employee, entrepreneur, pensioner or in receipt of benefits, the Fishes signifies your income and outgoings.  It’s the catch we make (salary) and use as wherewithal (bills).  Should the card fall near the Significator, it infers that the client has resources that she can access easily. If it is far away, the flow of money is slower and less plentiful.  Strong cards around the Fishes bring financial independence, which adds a sense of freedom to life.

  • Timing: 34-days. Seven to eight months. November.
  • Health: The urinary system. Also: oedemas, ichthyosis, hyperhidrosis, dehydration, alcoholism, gout, et cetera.
  • Description:  Typically indicates someone with green or blue eyes. He often has dark blonde or brown hair.

Queen of Diamonds – The Roads (22)

Essence:  Intersections.

The Roads card is a fork in life’s direction.  A decision must be made, and one must consider all factors carefully.  Not all will go the same way, and for some on this highway, the Roads will be (at times) a parting point.  When the Road falls adjacent to the Significator, you can be sure that a critical junction or intersection point in the querent’s life journey lies ahead.  On the positive side, the Roads can be an escape. If you are in an intolerable situation, the Road will offer a way out.  Next to the Tree, it tells us that there are treatment options to explore or a way to improve your constitution.  On a mundane level, it indicates short journeys, regular commutes, &c.

  • Timing: Between 2 – 7 weeks. Five months.
  • Health: The circularity system. Also: Alternative options and treatment possibilities, a second opinion.
  • Description: Often red-haired but can have hair highlights, salt-and-paper hair or, occasionally, heterochromia.
